Aviation System Standards (AVN) members include Flight Inspection Pilots, Procedure Development Specialists, Mission Specialists and support staff. AVN members provide services to ensure the standard development, evaluation and certification of airspace systems, procedures and equipment for customers worldwide. AVN members design and develop instrument flight procedures (IFP’s) for use throughout the United States and around the world, provide aircraft maintenance services and operate a fleet of flight inspection aircraft for airborne evaluation of electronic navigational signals.

Manufacturing Inspection District Offices (MIDO): Aviation Safety Inspectors (Manufacturing Specialty) and Aviation Safety Assistancts employed by the FAA in 22 offices nationwide. MIDO Aviation Safety Inspectors evaluate the safety and qualify of aircraft, and aircraft component parts through oversight of FAA approved manufacturing facilities. Manufacturing Inspectors evaluate aircraft and parts suppliers on their capability to maintain quality, and also oversee nearly two thousand FAA Manufacturing Designees who conduct inspections of parts and aircraft on the FAA’s behalf.
