PASS Offers Natural Disaster Recovery Resources

During what has become an unprecedented hurricane season and devastating wildfires in the western U.S., PASS-represented employees have been reaching out to the national office for guidance on how to help their fellow FAA employees who have been affected by these natural disasters and how to receive help for themselves and their families. FAA employees who wish to donate to the Hurricane Emergency Leave Bank, please use this form.

How to get help:

FAA EAP/WorkLife Resources: Hurricane Preparation, Response, and Recovery

FAA WorkLife Solutions website or call (800) 234-1327, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) program is a joint initiative with the FAA to help employees manage stress following a critical incident—natural disasters are considered critical incidents. Call the CISM team at (631) 485-2476. Trained peer counselors are available 24/7 and all calls are confidential.

Apply for a disaster relief grant from the  Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA), the only nonprofit that solely assists federal employees.

Qualified union members can apply for a disaster relief grant from Union Plus, a nonprofit founded by the AFL-CIO to provide consumer benefit programs exclusively to union members.

How to help:

All FAA employees—indeed all federal employees–are encouraged to apply for the Surge Capacity Force to volunteer to help the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in its recovery efforts. The Surge Capacity Force was created in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 to assist FEMA. The FAA and PASS both strongly support this effort. The Small Business Administration (SBA) is also recruiting volunteers. Volunteers need manager approval.
