PASS Applauds President-elect Obama

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tom Brantley, national president of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS), the union that represents over 11,000 aviation safety inspectors and technicians at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Defense (DoD), released the following statement regarding the outcome of Tuesday’s election of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States.

“Over the past eight years, morale of FAA employees has suffered immensely, labor relations between the administration and workers have deteriorated, and critical aviation safety issues have fallen by the wayside. PASS believes that the election of Barack Obama is a critical step toward mending many of the wrongs that have occurred under the Bush administration and encouraging a more positive environment for all of America’s workers.

“President-elect Obama has expressed and displayed his firm commitment on matters that impact working families and aviation safety – he has vowed to bring about the kind of change our working families need and recognizes the important work PASS members perform everyday to keep this country safe. We look forward to working with his administration.”
