PASS National Elections Results Are Released

Today, members of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS) reelected Mike Perrone to another three-year term as their national president. Perrone was first elected to that position in 2012 and won reelection in 2015. Since none of the five candidates for national vice president won 50 percent of the votes cast, a run-off election will be held for the top two vote-getting candidates, Carlos Aguirre and Raymond Morgan, in accordance with the PASS Constitution.

Parts of Executive Orders Struck Down in Court

In a victory for federal employees and their unions, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia handed down a decision late Friday night striking down many of the provisions contained in the three anti-federal employee executive orders (EOs) issued in May.

In her 122-page ruling, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson sided with the unions by enjoining some of the most egregious of the sections of the EOs, including setting timelines to complete bargaining, establishing strict limitations on official time, forcing unions to pay for union space and severely restricting the grievance process.

End of an Era: PASS Region V Vice President Retiring

Earlier this month, long-serving PASS Region V Vice President Bob Abbott announced his retirement from the FAA and PASS leadership, effective today, July 31. “It’s a bittersweet time for PASS and our Executive Board,” said National President Mike Perrone. “We have worked with Bob for years and have seen his dedication to our members. But while we’re losing a valued colleague, he’s leaving us with a stronger union.”

Hundreds Turn Out For #RedForFeds Rally In D.C

Dozens of unions, representing hundreds of thousands of federal employees, rallied outside the courthouse in Washington, D.C., July 25 where a judge was hearing arguments that the three anti-federal employee executive orders issued in May are illegal. PASS National President Mike Perrone joined other labor leaders on the stage. Organized by AFGE, the #RedForFeds rally also drew speakers from both the House and Senate who are supportive of federal employees, their unions and the work they do on behalf of the American public.
