Mike Perrone, national president of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists (PASS), the union that represents aviation safety inspectors, systems specialists and otheraviation safety professionals

at the FAA, released the following statement regarding the passing of Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) today:

"PASS is deeply saddened by the loss of Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who will be remembered for his stalwart support of not only aviation safety professionals, but all working men and women. Over the years, Sen. Lautenberg was a true champion of aviation safety employees and worked tirelessly to ensure safer skies for all Americans by supporting the critical work of FAA employees. Sen. Lautenberg consistently fought alongside the FAA workforce to ensure safe working conditions, fair and equitable collective bargaining rights, adequate staffing, and sufficient funding for critical infrastructure projects. He was also a defender of the critical work performed by government employees and openly opposed privatizationå and the contracting out important government functions. For all of this and more, PASS is forever grateful to Sen. Lautenberg. Working men and women lost a champion and an inspiring friend."
